Background

Dr. Humera Jahan received her Ph. D. in molecular medicine from Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research. She has a unique distinction of being the first graduate of the PCMD, inducted in the faculty of the center. Her research interests include studies of the mechanism of vascular complications of diabetes, with special emphasis on the glycation of collagens and lipoproteins, and RAGE-NF-κB nexus. Her main objective is to develop novel therapies for the prevention and treatment of chronic complications associated with diabetes. Her work also includes investigation of the potential of in vitro-identified novel DPP-IV inhibitors in in-vivo animal models and the search of novel inhibitors of impaired vasodilatory pathways in type II diabetes, particularly ameliorating AGEs- mediated dysfunction of PI3K-AKT-eNOS pathway.
